Morphology General Habit
Perennial herb with stout probably horizontal rhizome at least 4.5 cm. long, 1-1.5 cm. thick.

Leaves borne in a rosette, spirally arranged; blade elliptic or oblong-elliptic, 5-13 cm. long, 2.8-7 cm. wide, obtuse at the apex, gradually narrowed at the base into the petiole, ± entire or with several remote lobules on the margin, glabrescent above, pilose with crisped hairs beneath particularly on the 5-7 nerves; petiole distinct from the blade, 2-14 cm. long, usually pilose, dilated at the base, with or without cottony hairs.
