Morphology General Habit
Herb, or sometimes slightly woody, with prostrate densely pubescent eglandular stems up to 80 cm. or more long.
Morphology Leaves
Leaves 5–14.5 cm. long; petiole (0.3–1.4 cm. long) and rhachis eglandular or only with tiny clustered bodies at leaflet insertions. Stipules narrowly lanceolate-triangular, or the larger ones oblong-triangular, 1–nerved, 6–13 mm. long, 1.5–3 mm. wide near base. Leaflets in 6–12 pairs, lanceolate or elliptic-lanceolate, 1.1–2.6(–3.5) cm. long, 0.3–1 (–1.6) cm. wide, acute or subacuminate and often shortly mucronate at apex, shortly pubescent on both sides.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Inflorescences
Racemes (including peduncle) 11–32 cm. long; flowering axis densely pubescent.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Inflorescences Bracts
Bracts subtending flower-buds ovate-acuminate, 3.5–5 mm. long, 2.5–3 mm. wide.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Flowers Corolla
Petals yellow, 1.6–2 cm. long, 0.9–1.1 cm. wide.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Flowers Androecium Stamens
Stamens 10; filaments straight or nearly so; 2 anthers large, 5 medium, 3 small.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Fruits
Ripe pods not seen, probably similar to those of C. longiracemosa.
Habitat
Dry scrub with trees; 210–610 m.
Distribution
apparently endemic and so far found only at or near Wajir K1
