Liane, armed with scattered recurved prickles on the stem, and often on the petioles and leaf- and pinna-rhachides as well; branchlets subglabrous to sparsely puberulous.

Leaves with 2-3 pairs of pinnae; tendrils absent; leaflets 4-5(6) pairs, 0·8-3·5 x 0·9-2·3 cm., obliquely elliptic to obovate-elliptic, rounded and often slightly emarginate at the apex, cuneate to rounded at the base, glabrous except for some pubescence near the margins and near the base on the lower side.
