Biogeografic region: Andean, Orinoquia. Elevation range: 50–1940 m a.s.l. Native to Colombia. Colombian departments: Antioquia, Boyacá, Caldas, Casanare, Cauca, Cesar, Cundinamarca, La Guajira, Meta, Norte de Santander, Santander, Valle del Cauca.
