The native range of this subspecies is W. Tropical Africa to Arabian Peninsula and Angola, Comoros, Madagascar, Tropical & Subtropical Asia to S. Pacific. It is an annual, perennial or subshrub and grows primarily in the seasonally dry tropical biome.
