Shrub or small round-crowned tree 1·5-10 m. high; bark on trunk grey to cream, peeling in small flakes; young branchlets densely grey-pubescent with many small reddish glands intermixed, later becoming rather smooth (except for prickles), pale grey to grey-brown.
