Phenology
Flowering time: Feb.
Note
Trischidium limae is morphologically similar to T. alternum and Cowan (1974) noted that they are probably closely related. It differs in having shorter inflorescences, calyx segments that do not open to the base, a persistent petal, fewer stamens, more prominent leaflet venation and a longer stipe. It is also geographically isolated, because T. alternum grows in northern Brazil, Guyana and Peru whilst the distribution of T. limae is restricted to eastern coastal regions of Bahia and Pernambuco (Brazil). It also resembles some specimens of T. racemulosum (q.v.). Trischidium limae is poorly collected, and additional collections of this species are desirable. In honour of Dardano de Andrade-Lima (1919- 1981), botanist at Herbarium Bradeanum, Rio de Janeiro, who specialised in dryland plants from northeastern Brazil, especially Leguminosae, and who collected the type specimen of this species.
