Ecology
In seasonally dry forests ("Floresta Estacional")
Distribution
Suriname and French Guiana, which have a short dry season.
Phenology
Collected in flower in October.
Note
This species is very similar vegetatively to Zollernia grandifolia, but differs in having a hairy gynoecium. (Z. grandifolia is the only species of Zollernia with a glabrous gynoecium). Z. surinamensis differs from Zollernia paraensis in the persistent stipules and from Z. kanukuensis in the petal-blade being longer than wide.
