Morphology Reproductive morphology Inflorescences
Raceme 1.5 - 4 cm long, axillary, axis tomentose; bracts 1 - 2.2 x 0.8 - 1 mm, narrowly ovate, ciliate; bracteoles c. 1 x 0.3 mm, narrowly ovate, ciliate, attached to the lower half of the pedicel; pedicel c. 0.8 - 1.6 cm long, sparsely tomentose; buds 4 - 6.3 x 2 - 2.6 mm, sparsely tomentulose
Morphology Reproductive morphology Flowers

Morphology Reproductive morphology Fruits
Fruit 4 - 6 x 2 - 2.5 x 1.2 - 2 cm, indehiscent, pale yellow in the field, brown to black when dried, glabrous externally, pulp slightly sweet; seeds 3 - 4 per fruit, reniform, c. 1.5 x 1.2 cm, testa thin, whitish; embryo whitish, with cotyledons fused.
Distribution
This species is geographically disjunct from all other species in the genus. While Exostyles glabra and E. venusta occur from coastal Bahia to Rio de Janeiro and E. amazonica occurs in the Amazon, this new species is restricted to the state of Paraná.
Ecology
Submontane semideciduous forest (sensu Oliveira- Filho & Ratter 1995).
Phenology
Flowering from February to July and fruiting from July to September.
Note
Exostyles godoyensis differs from all other species of the genus in having only 5 (- 6) leaflets per leaf (vs. 7 - 11 per leaf); it differs from E. amazonica in having a glabrous (not sericeous) ovary and shorter stamen filaments and ovary stipe, and from E. glabra and E. venusta by its shorter anthers.
