Biogeografic region: Andean, Caribbean, Orinoquia. Elevation range: 0–2144 m a.s.l. Native to Colombia. Colombian departments: Antioquia, Atlántico, Bolívar, Boyacá, Casanare, Cesar, Cundinamarca, Huila, La Guajira, Magdalena, Valle del Cauca.
