The native range of this species is Sahara to Kenya, S. Israel to Arabian Peninsula. It is a perennial or subshrub and grows primarily in the desert or dry shrubland biome.

Diagnostic
Resembles T. polyphylla except that the hairs on the stems are rarely over 1 mm. long; the leaflets are usually narrower, over 2 cm. long and fewer (7–13, usually 9–11); the pod has a 2 mm. long stipe, is dehiscent, and the veins on each valve (when seen by transparency) form parallel bars crossing the valve diagonally, not weakening or breaking up into a diffuse network in the centre.
Habitat
Drier Acacia, Commiphora bushland, especially at margins of seasonal watercourses; 800–1000 m.; rainfall 300–500 mm.
