Stems minutely appressed pubescent, up to 40 cm. tall from a woody perennial rootstock.

Leaf-rhachis up to 7 cm. long, including a petiole of up to 13 mm., not or hardly prolonged beyond lateral leaflets; stipules narrowly oblong-attenuate, up to 5 mm. long; leaflets 5–15, thickened at the margins, narrowly linear-lanceolate or oblanceolate, pointed and recurved at the tip, up to 5 cm. long by 5 mm. wide, glabrous above, appressed strigulose beneath; veins very dense and prominent above and beneath, uniting to make a fairly strong marginal vein; terminal leaflets usually smaller than those near middle of leaf.
