Morphology General Habit
Erect herb or small shrub 0.4–1.8 m tall; all parts silvery silky appressed hairy particularly at apices of shoots but leaves eventually much less so or ± glabrescent.

Leaflets 3, 1.5–8 × 0.6–4.5 cm, elliptic, oblong-elliptic or ovate, obtuse to subacute but apiculate at the apex, rounded to cuneate at the base, rather prominently 3-nerved from the base, the laterals often reaching over half-way up the lamina; petiole 2–4 mm long; rhachis (excluding petiolule) c. 1 mm long; stipules 6 × 2 mm, lanceolate, silky outside.
