Morphology General Habit
Shrub 45–90 cm tall.
Morphology Stem
Stems at first scabrid with short tubercular-based hairs which wear off on the older stems.
Morphology Leaves
Leaves 4–6-foliolate; leaflets 9–23 × 3–10 mm, narrowly elliptic or oblanceolate, unequal and apiculate at the apex, very obliquely rounded at the base, margins ciliate-denticulate and also often with some short hairs on the main and secondary nerves; main nerve very distinctly lateral to practically marginal, dividing the blade into two very unequal parts, the narrower being considerably shorter to almost the same length as the wider, usually rather thick in texture; other basal nerves 3–5; venation reticulate beneath; petiole 4–8 mm long; rhachis 3–15 mm long, ending in a distinct bristle, all with similar indumentum to the stem; stipules leaf-like, 7–14 × 5–8 mm, ovate, acute to shortly acuminate at the apex, unequally biauriculate at the base, ciliate-denticulate, mostly with some scattered hairs, ± persistent, densely venose.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Inflorescences
Inflorescences on leafy shoots, densely strobilate, sometimes branched, 1.5–4 cm long; peduncle 5–10 mm long; pedicels 3–4 mm long; bracts turning reddish, 7–13 × 8–22 mm, ovate, divided into two lobes for about one-third of their length; lobes ovate, acuminate, ciliate-denticulate and mostly pubescent; bracteoles 3 × 1 mm, lanceolate, sparsely ciliate.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Flowers Calyx
Calyx lobes glabrous, 8–9 × 2–4 mm, elliptic-oblong, the upper almost entire, the lower shortly 3-fid.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Flowers Corolla
Standard yellow, 8 × 4 mm, oblong with a slight waist.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Fruits
Fruit of 1 kettle-drum-shaped article, 7.5 × 6 mm, the upper margin straight, the lower margin very rounded.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Seeds
Ripe seeds not seen.
