The native range of this species is S. DR Congo to N. Zambia. It is a subshrub and grows primarily in the seasonally dry tropical biome.

Mature leaflets discolorous, 4.5–7.5 × 2–4.2 cm, narrowly ovate to ovate, occasionally lobed on one side, sparsely appressed pilose; petiole 2.5–5.5 cm long; rhachis 1.5–2.2 cm long; petiolules 2–3 mm long.

Pseudoracemes with 1–several flowers in each fascicle, the fascicles often more crowded towards the apex of the inflorescence; pedicels 1–4(6) mm long.
