The native range of this species is Congo to Tanzania and S. Tropical Africa. It is a shrub or tree and grows primarily in the seasonally dry tropical biome.

Morphology General Habit
Shrub or tree 0.2–18(30) m tall, sometimes suffrutcose but then branched above or at least with several often clustered lateral inflorescences, and with stems apparently persisting for at least two seasons; bark grey to brown.
