Biogeografic region: Amazonia, Andean, Caribbean, Pacific. Elevation range: 0–1800 m a.s.l. Native to Colombia. Colombian departments: Amazonas, Antioquia, Atlántico, Bolívar, Chocó, Cundinamarca, La Guajira, Magdalena, Santander, Sucre, Valle del Cauca.
