Young branchlets densely to very sparsely clothed with minute crisped puberulence, usually soon disappearing but sometimes persistent.

Leaves:pinnae (Fig. 22/6, p. 163) (1–)2–3(–4, even—fide I.T.U. –5) pairs, each pinna broadening towards apex; leaflets of 2 distal pairs of pinnae 2–5 (very rarely 6) pairs, obliquely rhombic to obovate, with the distal pair largest, 29–72 mm. long, 16–43 mm. wide; lower pairs smaller, down to about 12 × 8 mm.; apex obtuse, rarely subacute; base not auricled; surface beneath glabrous except for puberulence on midrib and margins.
