Distribution
This species is endemic to the state of Rio de Janeiro (Mansano & Tozzi 1999b), occurring more specifically in the surroundings of the municipal district of Rio de Janeiro and also in Nova Friburgo
Ecology
This is a species of the Atlantic Rain Forest (Floresta Pluvial Tropical Atlântica).
Phenology
Flowering between May and June.
Note
Taubert wrote the name Zollernia parvifolia on the label of a herbarium specimen from Berlin, later cited by Glaziou (1906) as a new species, but the name was never effectively published. Yakovlev (1976) first effectively described Z. glaziovii. Zollernia glaziovii is not very distinct, and is sometimes confused with other species, especially those with oblong-elliptic leaves with an acute and mucronate apex, secondary veins slightly ascendant and incurved, and the second pair of the secondary veins restricted to the lower half of the blade.
