Biogeografic region: Andean, Caribbean, Orinoquia, Pacific. Elevation range: 0–1050 m a.s.l. Native to Colombia. Colombian departments: Antioquia, Atlántico, Bolívar, Cauca, Cesar, Córdoba, Cundinamarca, Huila, La Guajira, Magdalena, Meta, Norte de Santander, Santander, Tolima, Valle del Cauca.
